According to the Ember report, which includes data from 80 countries that together account for 92% of the world’s energy demand, renewable energy sources in 2023 account for more than 30% of global electricity production.
This figure represents a significant increase in solar and wind power generation in 2023, nearly doubling the share of energy from renewable sources from 19% in 2000 to over 30% in 2023.
On the other hand, the share of energy from hydroelectric plants and other renewable sources in total production has decreased in the same period, from 2000 to 2023.
According to the report, it is predicted that, due to the rapid development of solar and wind power, the production of electricity from fossil fuels could begin to decline as early as 2024.
